※About the theme of “Making Great Strides for the Nikkei Community, A New Generation of Initiatives”.
In past Conventions of Nikkei and Japanese Abroad, the term “日系社会 (Nikkei communities)” has been used in Chinese characters (KANJI). However, non-descendants have become important members of Nikkei organizations in many parts of the world. In order to express this situation, we have decided to use the KATAKANA term “ニッケイ 社会(Nikkei communities)” in this year’s Convention.
